MCC Welcomes New PTK Members for 2026

Thirty-seven Montgomery Community College students were inducted into the college’s Beta Xi Omicron chapter of Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) honor society on April 23rd. Family and friends were in attendance to celebrate the occasion.

The purpose of PTK is to promote scholarship, the development of leadership and service, and the cultivation of fellowship among qualified students. This year’s Inductees have worked hard to meet the eligibility for PTK, completing at least 12 semester hours of associate degree general education coursework with a grade point average of 3.5. They also adhere to the school code of conduct and possess recognized qualities of citizenship.

In addition to pledging allegiance to the society and its ideals, students signed their names in the chapter membership book and received a candle, which represents light, the exploration of truth and dedication to the cultivation of well-reasoned life, a prelude to serve and honor.

In 2025, the MCC College Beta Xi Omicron Chapter was recognized as a 2025 REACH Chapter through Phi Theta Kappa, receiving the 2025–2026 REACH Award. In recognition of this achievement, the chapter was awarded 16 graduation stoles to present to its officers.

Five MCC faculty members serve as advisors to PTK: Monica Williams, Wendy Grissom, Sam Britt, Stephanie Weishner and Kimberly Johnson

Four students were recognized as the PTK officers for 2026: President Izzie Seawell, Vice-President Alaysia Britton, Treasurer Hillary Jimenez Perez, and Public Relations Officer Jessica Benitez-Trujillo.
