MCC Alumna Alexis Saunders has been crafting and creating her way into a healthy business. The first year Alexis dedicated all her time to her business, Alexis Nicole’s Designs saw over $100,000 in sales. What started out as a hobby has become a profitable and rewarding endeavor as she continues to add new product lines and customer outreach mechanisms to grow her business. Originally from Troy, Alexis calls Bennett, North Carolina home today. The Lambs: A Family in Forestry

In Spring 2025, MCC welcomed Erick Lamb, Sr. to its Forest Management Technology faculty. Lamb, a 2019 graduate of MCC’s Forestry Program, transferred his credits to North Carolina State University where he earned a bachelor’s of science from NC State’s Department of Forestry & Environmental Resources in 2021. Dr. Amy Frieary was born in Montgomery County and has lived here her whole life. “This county has shaped who I am, and my goal has always been to give back in return,” explains Amy. “I care deeply about this community and will always strive to help it grow and succeed.” Amy is by all accounts a people-person today, which makes her early days as an introvert somewhat surprising. Dr. Debby Douglas had her beginnings in Montgomery County, and we sure are glad she brought her talents back home to us! Debby was a student at Troy Elementary School, was homeschooled from the fourth through eighth grade, and graduated from West Montgomery High School in 2000. MCC is pleased to welcome Hollie Claire Ritter as its new Counselor, Title IX and Disability Services Coordinator. Prior to her arrival at the College, Hollie was an exceptional children’s preschool teacher for five years here in Montgomery County. Hollie hails from Troy, receiving her high school diploma from Wescare Christian Academy in 2017. She earned her Associate in Arts degree from MCC in 2019, transferring those credits to Catawba College in Salisbury where she earned a bachelor’s degree in Elementary and Special Education in 2020. Ms. Amanda Beaman, winner of this year’s Excellence in Teaching Award at Montgomery Community College, placed in the top three for the honor across all 58 of North Carolina’s community colleges! Beaman is a graduate of MCC with an Associate in Applied Science degree. She has worked for the College since 2005, and is currently the Department Chair of Medical Assisting and Phlebotomy.
