Daniel Hatley began his Community College career as a student at Stanly Community College in 2012. While attending SCC, he earned his Associate in Arts degree which would be the foundation for the completion of his Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke in 2019.

“I believe in community colleges, and I encourage everyone to consider this option,” explains Daniel. “At the very least you are going to save a ton of money, but I found that community college instructors treat you as a real person and give you as much one-on-one time as you might need. Also, in my situation, I wanted to keep working while I went to school, and attending a community college gave me this flexibility.”

After graduation from UNC-Pembroke, Daniel was employed by Stanly Community College to serve in the Student Services department in various roles, including Success Coaching. He recently transitioned to Montgomery Community College to help the QEP Team’s implementation of the Success Navigator model.

“Students in Montgomery County have really impressed me, in that they are willing to engage and take advantage of the services we have to offer,” said Daniel.

Throughout his experience as a student and an employee of the NC Community College System, Daniel has advocated for the importance and value of local community colleges, as they serve as gateways for self-advancement for each individual. If a student gets Daniel as their Success Navigator, they can expect to have their own, personal advocate from day one, who will guide them from their very first semester through graduation and beyond!
