MCC Pins Medical Assisting Graduates
Published on Thursday, May 8th, 2025
As anyone who has experienced a medical procedure knows, the Medical Assistant is one of the most impactful people a patient comes into contact with. These multi-skilled health care professionals perform clinical, administrative and laboratory procedures during our appointments, and serve to make our experience seamless from start to finish.

On May 7th, Montgomery Community College pinned this year’s cohort of Medical Assisting graduates: Haley Gentry CMA (AAMA), Marina Hall, Shaniqua Harris, Megon Letterlough, CMA (AAMA), Taska Little, Quintina Pratt, Nancy Rodriguez-Vazquez and Carla Vargas-Morales.
Faculty, staff and trustees were on hand to celebrate the occasion, with Alesia Brown, a former graduate of the program, serving as the evening’s guest speaker. She spoke about how the graduates had a tremendous opportunity ahead of them to serve their communities.
MCC’s Medical Assisting students receive 240 hours of clinical internship in a medical office where they work under the supervision of an instructor and an on-site resource person. Students have the opportunity to work directly with patients and other medical assistants to gain valuable real-world experience in the field. Course work includes instruction in scheduling appointments, coding and processing insurance accounts, billing, collections, computer operations, assisting with examinations/treatments, performing routine laboratory procedures, electrocardiography, supervised medication administration; and ethical/legal issues associated with patient care. This high-demand field features numerous employment opportunities in physicians’ offices, health maintenance organizations, health departments and hospitals.
