MCC Pins Its 2025 Nursing Classes

Eighteen students, thirteen with an Associate Degree in Nursing and five from the Practical Nursing program, received a commemorative pin and a nurse’s candle to remember their accomplishments.

Practical Nursing Graduates include Samantha Allred, Madison Johnson, Jami Mills, Marycarmen Perez Gonzalez and Whitney Wright.
Associate Degree Nursing Graduates include Natasha Harwood, Jessica Hernandez, Gwendolyn Horne, Deanna Klass, Angelina Longoria, Tracy McNeill, Amari Moore Johnson, Noah Overton, Miranda Owens, Ozzie Pratt, Jensine Taylor, Christina Webb and Amber West.
Lori Thayer, RHIA, CLE of Tillery Compassionate Care delivered an inspiring address focused on “the why” which drives the passion of this year’s graduates. Thayer encouraged these students to remember what drives them as they step into this marvelous calling and career.
Melissa Williams, BSN, RN and Pathway to Excellence Program Director with Atrium Health Stanly, was on hand to present two Atrium Health awards during the ceremony.
The Atrium Health Stanly Nursing Service Award, determined by vote of nursing leaders, is presented by the hospital foundation to the graduate who best meets the criteria of scholastic ability, professionalism, interpersonal relationship, teamwork, initiative and caring attitude. ADN graduate Miranda Owens is the recipient of this year’s award.
The Atrium Health Stanly Nursing Leadership Award, determined by the vote of the nursing leadership and with approval of the hospital executive, is presented by the hospital administration to the graduate who is most dedicated to caring. PN graduate Jami Mills received this award.
Jan Scholl, MSN, RN Nurse Executive FirstHealth Montgomery Memorial, was on hand to present two FirstHealth Montgomery Foundation awards during the ceremony.
The Foundation of FirstHealth’s Nursing Enrichment Award is presented in recognition of Clinical Performance consistent with FirstHealth’s mission to care for people. PN graduate Madison Johnson received this award.
The Foundation of FirstHealth’s Nursing Enrichment Award is presented in recognition of Transformational Leadership consistent with FirstHealth’s mission to care for people. ADN graduate Jessica Hernandez received this award.
The MCC Nursing faculty Lantern Award recognizes an ADN or PN student who exhibits exceptional performance in leadership, communication, initiative and self-direction, attitude and mindset and professionalism. ADN graduate Natasha Harwood received the award.
Montgomery Community College offers a variety of programs in the health and human services fields to choose from, featuring associate, certificate and diploma options. Students can choose from nursing, dental assisting, human services, medical office administration, medical assisting, nurse aide, phlebotomy and practical nursing.
