At the 2007 Montgomery Community College Foundation Raffle, the winning “money bag” was chosen by Claire Menard, daughter of MCC instructor Bob Menard. Ms. Menard’s enthusiastic display after winning the $5,000 prize warmed the hearts of all the raffle guests and participants. Characteristic of her father’s dedication and devotion to Montgomery Community College, Ms. Menard choose to return the prize money to the foundation. Touched by the Menards’ gesture and generosity, the foundation board of directors elected to match the funds donated back to the college with equal proceeds earned from the raffle. The newly established $10,000 endowment was directed toward a cause firmly embraced by Claire’s father: hiring student tutors to assist their fellow students with technology-related studies. The Claire Menard Students Helping Students Endowment pays an annual allocation to the business technologies department for the purpose of hiring student tutors.
