HOW DO I FIND MY USERNAME?

Obtain your Username:
MCC Usernames will be automatically generated. It is possible that your Username has changed since the last time you were a student at MCC. It is important that you use the button below to obtain your Username. You will need this Username for all services. To find your username click the button below. On this screen, you will enter your Last Name and either your SSN or your Student ID number. Do NOT enter both numbers. Click Submit, then write down your Username. To find your 7 digit Student ID number click the back button in the browser on this page. Your 7 digit Student ID number will now be populated in the colleague ID field.

Setting Up Username and Password

All MCC students will need login information in order to access certain student resources. Login conventions will be the same for all systems listed below. 

Blackboard Username

Obtain your Username:

Create a Password with the Password Portal

If you have already created a password at the Password Portal, you will use the same password for all services. If you need to create/reset your password, please go to the Password Portal.

Create Password

1. Go to the Password Portal.
2. Select Reset Password. 
3. Input Username. Click next. 
4. Answer the questions. Make sure to use the name on file. Input birthdate in the MMDDYY format (ex. 010895 for January 8, 1995). Click next.
5. Input new password. Password must be at least 8 characters and contain at least 1 Upper Case, 1 Lower Case, and 1 number. (Example: Green1Tea)

Where Can I Find My 7 digit Student I.D. Number?

The Student ID Number appears on your schedule, listed as “ID Number,” MCC acceptance/need letter, or it can be found on the back of your Student Photo ID. It is a seven (7) digit number.

Who do I contact if my username or password for Blackboard Learn is not working?

If the school is open, call (910)-898-9648 or email studenthelp@montgomery.edu if the college is closed. You can reset your blackboard password here https://reset.montgomery.edu/PasswordReset/

Why are my courses not showing up in Blackboard Learn?

Your courses will not show up until the first day of class. If you register late, it may be 24 hours from the time you registered until your course is available. If you still do not see your course(s), please call (910)-898-9648.

Where can I find technical help with issues such as logging in or getting started in Blackboard Learn?

Are there on campus computers and Internet access for students?

Yes! Students may use the computers in the MCC Library and individual student assistance is available in the CATS lab located at the back of the library. To login to these computers, you will need your username and password created from the instructions above.

How do I check my grades in Blackboard Learn?

Your instructor may have created a tool in the menu on the left side of the screen titled, Grades or My Grades. If you do not see this, look for a menu titled Tools, and you should find a My Grades link inside.

Do I need special software to use Blackboard Learn?

Blackboard Learn is a web-based tool, so any current internet browser that has JavaScript and cookies turned on should be able to access most content. Click here to view the list of supported browsers for Blackboard Learn. Montgomery Community College strongly recommends NOT using Internet Explorer. You may need additional software or plug-ins depending on what content your professor requires for class. For example, your instructor may post content that requires the Adobe Flash Player to view.

Can I use the Blackboard Mobile Learn app?

The Blackboard Mobile Learn app offers access to various content and features within a Blackboard Learn course and is available for multiple mobile devices.

There is a mandatory course assignment in all of my online courses - do I have to complete for each course?

Yes! It is important that you complete the mandatory assignment by the due date for EVERY course you are enrolled. If you do not complete the assignment by the due date, you will be automatically dropped from the course.

Student Email Address

Access student email via the web by clicking on the TrailMail link at the top of the page or directly at mail.google.com/a/student.montgomery.edu

Your MCC email address will be Usersname@student.montgomery.edu. Example: If your Username is smithp5622, your email address will be smithp5622@student.montgomery.edu.

If you do not know your Username, follow the steps under the "My Account" tab on this page.

Go to www.office.com/getOffice365

1. Enter your MCC email address in the box indicated. then click the green Get started button. Note: If you have ever registered for an Office 365 account using your MCC student email, you should click the Sign in button at the upper right corner of this page.

2. Click "I'm a student" on the window that appears. You should receive a message to "go check your email."

3. Check your student mail for an email from Microsoft Office 365 Team. Open this email and verify by clicking the ‘yes, that's me’ button.

4. Fill out the form with your name, create a password and enter your birth date. Click the Start link.

5. At the next screen, you will see an Install Now button on the right side of the page. Be sure to uncheck the two buttons above the Install Now button if you do not want to set Bing and MSN as default search engine and browser. Note: If you need help installing on a device other than a computer, use the links in the middle of the page for more information.

6. Click the Install Now button to continue. In just a few seconds a Setup file is downloaded onto your computer. If you do not see the "Setup.X86.en US_03..." file at the bottom of your screen, navigate to the Downloads folder on your computer. Double-click the file name to begin the installation. If you have trouble finding the file, skip to the next lesson in this course or watch the video at this link for more help: 

7. Click Next and answer the prompts until the installation is complete. If you have issues, try this link: Troubleshoot Office 365 Installation or call the CATS Lab at 910-898-9648.

WiFi Support

Information on connecting devices to the MCC wireless.

Student & Staff WiFi Access

If your device is a MCC device continue with the following steps, IF NOT please select Guest & BYOD WiFi Access. 

1. Open your wifi settings on your device. Select MCC_AD.

2. Once you click connect you'll have a login prompt on your device and/or in your browser. You will use you MCC credentials to login. By logging in you are excepting the MCC Terms of Use Policy

3. Once logged in you will be redirected to the MCC homepage. If you are not redirected try closing your browser and opening it back. If you still can't connect please select the support tab.

Guest & BYOD WiFi Access

If your device is a MCC device please use the student and staff steps. If you are a guest on campus or using a BYOD device please continue.

1. Open the WiFi settings on your device. Select the MCC_Guest option.

2. Once selected you will be directed to a login page in your browser. See below.

3. Input your first name, last name, and email. Click login. By logging in you are excepting the MCC Terms of Use Policy.

4. Once logged in you will be redirected to the MCC homepage. If you are not redirected try closing your browser and opening it back. If you still can't connect please select the support tab below.

Submit a HelpDesk Ticket

If you have any issues connecting to the wireless network please let us know by submitting a ticket. 

OPEN TICKET

 

Android Devices

1. Click on Settings.

2. Click on Connections.

3. Make sure to Turn on WiFi.

4. Choose the appropriate network "MCC_AD" for faculty, staff, and students, "MCC_GUEST" for guests and BYODs.

5. Choose PEAP from the drop-down menu for EAP method.

6. Choose MSCHAPV2 from the drop-down for the Phase 2 authentication.

7. Choose “Don't validate” from the drop-down for the Certificate field.

8. Enter your NetID in the Identity field.

9. Leave Anonymous identify field blank.

You will use your MCC credentials to log in. Click login. Click login. By logging in you are excepting the MCC Terms of Use Policy.

10. Click Connect.

Once logged in you will be redirected to the MCC homepage. If you are not redirected try closing your browser and opening it back. If you still can't connect please start a support ticket with us.

Apple Devices

1. Select the WiFi icon in the top right hand corner.

2. Select MCC_Guest.

4. Login to MCC_Guest with your first name, last name, and email. Click login. By logging in you are excepting the MCC Terms of Use Policy.

iPad

Reset Your Network Settings.
Tap Network Settings. Tap Settings, General, Reset. Reset Network Settings. Tap the SSID of the WIFI network to join.

Still Not Connecting?
Update to the latest iOS.

Force Restart Your iPad.
Hold down the Sleep and Wake button and the Home button at the same until you see the logo. Then Rejoin Network. Tap the SSID of the WIFI network to join.

A login page will open in a new browser window. If not, try opening google chrome. Login to MCC_Guest with your first name, last name, and email. Click login. By logging in you are excepting the MCC Terms of Use Policy.

Once logged in you will be redirected to the MCC homepage. If you are not redirected, close your browser and reopen. If you still can't connect please start a support ticket with us.

iPhone

From your Home screen, go to Settings, then Wi-Fi.

Make sure the Wi-Fi is turned ON. Scan for available Wi-Fi networks.

Tap the SSID of the WIFI network to join.

Still Not Connecting?

Switch off your WIFI
Go to the Settings and tap on Airplane mode to turn it to off. Tap to Switch back on.

Forget WIFI Network
Open settings and WIFI option. Tap on the name of the Network. Tap on Forget Network. Tap on Forget. Then rejoin the Network.

Reset Network
Go to Settings, General and Reset. Reset Network Settings. Tap the SSID of the WIFI network to join.

A login page will open in a new browser window. If not, try opening google chrome. Login to MCC_Guest with your first name, last name, and email. Click login. By logging in you are excepting the MCC Terms of Use Policy.

Once logged in you will be redirected to the MCC homepage. If you are not redirected, close your browser and reopen. If you still can't connect please start a support ticket with us.

Windows 10

1. Press Windows key + X and click on Device Manager.

2. Right-click on the network adapter and choose Uninstall.

3. If prompted, click on Delete the driver software for this device.

4. Restart your machine and Windows will automatically reinstall the driver.

5. Try connecting using the SSID available.

Connecting to MCC_AD WiFi

Click OK. If you are not redirected, try closing your browser and opening it back. A login page will open in a new browser window. If not, try opening google chrome. If you still can't connect please start a support ticket with us.

Windows 8

1. Search for Control Panel. 

2. Choose Network and Sharing Center.

3. Click on the arrow next to Network Adapters, and find the Wireless Adapters.

4. Next, double click on the Wireless Adapter, it will open a new window.

5. Next, choose the Driver Tab and click on uninstall. Restart the computer.

6. Click on Wireless at the bottom right of your screen.

7. Try connecting using the SSID available.

Windows 7

1. Click on the Wireless Symbol.
2. Open Network & Sharing Center.
3. Manage Wireless Networks.
4. Add.
5. Manually create a network profile.
6. Network name:
7. Security: WPA2 - Enterprise
8. Encryption Type: AES
9. Check Start this connection automatically.
10. Connect.
11. Change Connection Settings.
12. Security Tab.
13. Remove check from Validate Server Certificate.
14. Say ok and close your way out and double-check you are connected.
