Two new members of the Montgomery Community College Board of Trustees were sworn in Wednesday night at the August meeting.

Kerry Hensley swearing inKerry Allen Hensley was appointed by the Montgomery County Board of Education to fill the position vacated by Andrea Marshall. Dr. Katherine “Katie” Dunlap was appointed by the Governor to fill the position vacated by Susan Eggleston.

Kerry Hensley is a lifelong Montgomery County resident, a registered nurse, and a retired FirstHealth Montgomery Memorial Hospital administrator. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Kerry is active in many community activities including the FirstHealth Montgomery Foundation, Montgomery Community Theater, Biscoe Community Center and Star Presbyterian Church.

Dr Katie Dunlap swearing in blogDr. Katie Dunlap holds a PhD in Social Welfare from Case Western Reserve University in Ohio, a master in school psychology and a master in social work. She spent 19 years as a professor at UNC. Katie is a valued member of the Montgomery Community College Foundation Board of Directors. She is also active in a number of community activities including Daughters of the American Revolution, Montgomery County Council on Aging, Biscoe Food Pantry, and the Star Presbyterian Church.

Claudia Bulthuis was reappointed to the Board by Montgomery County Board of Commissioners and was sworn in at the meeting as well.

Cole McQuinn SGA President blogThe Board elected officers for the 2019-2020 academic year. Officers are Claudia Bulthuis, Chair; Gordon Knowles, Vice Chair; Susan Hershberger, Secretary; and Courtney Atkins, Recording Secretary.

The Board welcomed Cole McQuinn, the 2019-2020 Montgomery Community College Student Government Association (SGA) President. Cole is an MCC student through the Career and College Promise program and is the first high school student ever to occupy the position as SGA President.
