FAFSA Assistance
5pm - 7pm, Mondays

  1. Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on the web as soon after January 1 as possible for maximum consideration of all available student aid programs. We recommend that you submit your FAFSA on the Web no later than March 15 at www.fafsa.ed.gov. (Use attached FAFSA on the Web Worksheet.)  Once you complete the FAFSA you MUST contact MCC to complete our paperwork. This paperwork MUST be completed before you can receive financial aid.

  2. You and your parents (if applicable) must apply for Personal Identification Number(s) at www.pin.ed.gov. This number will be used to electronically sign your Financial Aid Application.

  3. You and your parents (if applicable) should complete and file your federal income taxes before completing your FAFSA on the web. To complete the FAFSA you will need:
Student & Parent(s) Social Security Number            Tax returns
Social Security & VA amounts received                     W 2 Forms
Child Support amounts paid or received                     Net Value of assets
Driver License number                                                    MCC School Code: 008087

  4. Two to four weeks after you file the FAFSA electronically you should receive a copy of your Student Aid Report (SAR). The SAR summarizes the information you submit on the FAFSA. The Expected Family Contribution (EFC) will be based on the financial information you provide on the FAFSA, and MCC will use it to award your financial aid. Review the SAR carefully for errors. If necessary make corrections at www.fafsa.ed.gov. You then will receive a new SAR.

  5. If your financial aid application is selected for verification, MCC will require you to submit additional documentation such as signed copies of your tax returns, W-2 and 1099 forms. The federal government selects 30% of the FAFSAs for verification. Every student that applies at MCC will receive a packet of information by mail/email to complete. Return any information to MCC immediately after receipt. Financial aid files are not complete until all paperwork has been processed by MCC and an MCC (Rose Colored) Award Letter has been received by the student.
