SEMESTER CALENDAR OF EVENTS FOR FINANCIAL AID

Registration Day: Financial assistance approval is issued to financial aid applicants whose information (SAR, income tax forms, transcripts, etc.) has been received and processed in the Financial Aid Office before the scheduled registration. Applicants will receive signed award letters stating tentative amounts of aid. Financial Aid students must see the Financial Aid Office at every registration. NOTE: Any student whose Student Aid Report (SAR) is received on or after registration day will be processed and awarded at a later date.

Financial Assistance Payment Schedule: (Pell, FSEOG, Scholarships) First payroll will be given to the Business Office one week after the last date for tuition refund as published in the College's Academic Calendar. Students whose Financial Aid file is completed after the first payroll date will be processed as soon as possible. Credit balances due the student after the first payroll date has passed (due to late file completion or errors in the original calculations) will be disbursed the last day of each month prior to the end of the semester, and on the last day of classes in the semester (No Exceptions).

Federal Pell Grant, FSEOG, state grants, and scholarship funds are awarded on a two-semester basis (Fall and Spring). Students who are enrolled as full time (12 or more credit hours) and receive Pell Grant, FSEOG, state grants or scholarships both Fall and Spring semester and plan to attend Summer session will be responsible for all educational expenses for Summer session. Only students with remaining eligibility (have not received Pell Grant, FSEOG, or scholarships for Fall and Spring semesters) will be awarded funds for Summer Session. Federal Pell Grant funds are prorated according to the number of credit hours a student is enrolled in per semester. Scholarship funds may be awarded on a different schedule if mandated by the donor.

Federal Work-Study (FWS): Time sheets must be received in the Financial Aid Office on the last day of each month to ensure payment on the 15th of the following month.

The Business Office disburses all Financial Assistance balances due the student.

DEADLINES

Students applying for financial aid for the upcoming academic year should have a complete financial aid file in the Financial Aid Office at MCC by March 15. The earlier your file is completed, the better the chance of receiving assistance. In order to eliminate possible errors that may delay or eliminate an award, students should complete and review their financial aid file with the Financial Aid Office staff at the College by March 15.
