Small Business Center Seminars

The Small Business Center is a resource provided by the State of North Carolina and by Montgomery Community College to help small businesses succeed. We provide free confidential business counseling, free business seminars and free access to vital resources and information. The Montgomery Community College Small Business Center will be offering the following free seminars this semester. Please note that certificates will be provided to all seminar attendees. Please note that drop-ins are always welcome at these seminars, but advance registration is strongly recommended so handouts and seating arrangements can be prepared. How to Deal with Conflicts in the Business World

Business owners and entrepreneurs must learn how to deal with conflicts in the business world in order to be successful. Conflicts in the business world are inevitable. However, conflicts do not have to force everyone to take sides and create major disruptions in your business. Instead, conflict can be viewed as an opportunity for change and growth. This seminar examines how to identify the basic causes of conflict and how to focus on preventing conflicts from disrupting the business environment. Also, we will examine what to do when conflicts do occur and how to treat the actual causes rather than the symptoms. In addition, you will learn the basic rules to help you deal with conflict when it occurs, how to move toward successful resolution and how to use the experience of conflict to actually enhance your business environment and to improve personal relationships with your employees and your customers. How to Market Your Invention

This series of 3 seminars, offered at 3 different locations within Montgomery County, is strongly recommended for business owners and entrepreneurs who want to learn how to market an invention.  Learn all the steps required in this complicated process.  Examine the options available to an inventor, such as obtaining a patent versus obtaining patent pending status, designing and building a prototype yourself versus selecting a manufacturing company to build it for you, and marketing your invention directly to the public or utilizing a marketing firm.
