Beekeeping $25 6-8 PM M/9 AM-12 PM Saturday 9/5-10/24 Rm 230
This beginners "bee-ology" course will take you from starting your own hives to the care, feeding, and seasonal management of these industrious critters. Learn about the common pests and diseases that can attack a colony, and how to protect your bees from invasion. Reap the benefits of beekeeping in your own garden and beyond. Class includes a visit to local hives.

Multimedia Art $45 9:30 AM-2:30 PM T 8/16-10/11 Rm 103B
Beginning-to-advanced level students work in an open studio with an instructor one-on-one with as much or as little guidance as needed. Choose any medium from which to work including oils, acrylics, watercolors and pen/pencil.

Folk Art and Tole Painting $45  12 PM-2:00 PM MW 8/15-10/12 Rm 103B
A structured and uniform instruction on how to learn the most unique, oldest Art in the World and in History. Learn what brushes to use, basic painting techniques, base coating, backgrounds, undercoating design elements, shading, highlighting, refining and detailing. Acrylic paints only.

 

Pottery
MCC's Pottery program is known nationally for its state-of-the-art facility, accomplished alumni, and talented staff. Now this program is being offered for the first time to students through short term Continuing Education classes! Learn all the skills taught in the degree program from the same instructors, but take the courses convenient for you. These are non-credit courses. Additional topics in pottery production can be scheduled at students' request. Introduction to Pottery
Learn clay preparation, centering and wheel throwing basic forms, trimming, surface decoration, glazing, firing techniques and loading and firing bisque kilns.

One-day Pottery Workshops
MCC has invited nationally-renowned potters to our pottery studio to present specialty clay workshops this spring. This will be an opportunity for beginning to advanced potters to learn specialized styles and techniques provided by experienced, master potters. Workshops are scheduled on Saturdays from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Sessions include a morning demonstration and discussion, followed by a one-hour, bring-your-own-lunch networking session, and end with a hands-on application session. Seats for workshops are limited. Participants are encouraged to register early. All materials costs are extra and will be charged separately. Stay Tuned!
