Montgomery Community College will introduce a new Project Management certificate this fall designed to teach skills critical to achieving results in all types of projects.
The title “Project Manager” is used in almost any field including information technology, business, construction, finance, government and education. Talented project managers are crucial to the successful planning and implementation of projects.
A project management credential can enhance most careers because it teaches a variety of skills. Leadership, risk assessment, finance, computer applications, business law, communications, ethics and critical thinking are applicable to any job and appropriate for today’s business environment.
A closer look at the courses within the certificate reveals topics such as project life cycles, integrated project schedules, critical path networking, float analysis, schedule performance and predictability, responsibility matrixes, quantitative and qualitative risk analysis, and planning and control methods.
Students will be introduced to scheduling, budgeting and performance objective setting. Finally, they will explore various development and management techniques and tools. Graduates of the Project Management certificate program should understand and be able to apply the Body of Knowledge as established by the Project Management Institute, the certifying agency for professional project managers.
The certificate can be completed in only two semesters. Courses are offered in the evenings and online. The program begins this fall at MCC.
