Adverse weather may include snow, sleet, freezing
rain, severe thunderstorms, flooding, tornadoes, and
hurricanes. In the event that adverse weather
conditions necessitate closing MCC, College
administrators will notify the radio and television
stations as soon as conditions warrant. Efforts will be
made to announce this on the following:
Listen for announcements concerning Montgomery
Community College. The College does not operate
on decisions made by the Montgomery County School
System. Often we may operate classes even if the
county schools are closed since they must consider
school bus safety factors.
Announcements will be given to the radio and TV
stations as soon as possible after a decision is made to
close the College. If MCC is to be open for regular
classes, no announcement will be made. When
possible, announcements concerning closing of day
classes will be made by 6:00 a.m. When possible,
announcements concerning closing of evening classes
will be made by 4:00 p.m.
If adverse weather begins too late to meet these
announcement times, then the announcements will
be made as soon as possible once a decision to close
has been made. Additionally, if there is electrical
power at the College, a message will be placed on the
MCC telephone (voice mail) system.
