Planning Council

The MCC Personnel Manual outlines the charge of the Planning Council:

The Council shall meet monthly. The purpose of the Council is to coordinate all College planning with respect to organization, curriculum budgets, facility use, departmental linkage, student development, staff development, facility planning, diversity planning, technology planning, institutional effectiveness and marketing; and to act as a supplemental clearinghouse for policy proposals and revisions. All activities of the Council are forwarded to the President for review and final approval. All meetings of the Council are open to the college community and to the Board of Trustees.

The Planning Council coordinates planning for all aspects of the college, in concert with the DID and the President’s Cabinet, with the goal of improving institutional effectiveness. The Council meets monthly to pursue activities outlined on the annual Planning Calendar. The Council includes representatives from all areas of the college, including departments and division representatives, the Faculty and Staff Senate presidents, and the SGA president. The Dean of Institutional Development, by virtue of the position, serves as permanent chair of the Council.

The Council receives information and recommendations from departments, programs, and teams, as well as institutional and external data from the DID. The Council reviews all material and makes planning recommendations to the Cabinet. The Cabinet reviews the Council’s recommendations and approves, rejects, or modifies same. The Council is apprised of the Cabinet’s decisions and relays information and courses of action to the appropriate person(s) or program(s).

The Planning Council meets at 2:00pm in the Boardroom. All college personnel are welcome to attend. MCC personnel may access Planning Council meeting minutes in the Institutional Development folder on the shared (S:) drive of the college's intranet.
