CAD

This course is designed to introduce the basic concepts of computer-aided design and drafting. Students will learn operating procedures, use of menus and terminology. A basic understanding of computer operations and familiarity with drafting concepts are recommended.

HVAC Maintenance

In this 12-week class, students will learn hands-on, detailed field maintenance, installation and repair in addition to routine maintenance technologies used in the day-to-day HVAC industry. Text is required and available at the MCC Bookstore

Residential Wiring and Code

Limited Scholarships Available for this class!

This course is designed to provide an in-depth knowledge of the principles of electrical wiring as it applies to residential applications. Emphasis is on Ohm’s Law, alternating and direct current, series circuits, parallel circuits and series parallel circuits, use of electrical tools and equipment, wiring materials and many other special subjects. Preventive maintenance and troubleshooting as well as National Electrical Code will be covered. This class could lead to a student obtaining an Electrical License. *An online HRD class is required for this course. Students will be enrolled for the HRD portion on the first day of class.

Introduction to Masonry (Bricklaying)

During this 8-week class, students will be introduced to the art of bricklaying. This hands-on class will help students build the skills necessary to read blueprints, properly prepare and mix mortar, and lay brick. Students will also learn the essential tools and terminology of the trade. Accident insurance is required and a textbook is recommended.

Mower/Chain Saw/Leaf Blower Repair Class

Learn to repair engines below 12 horse power, single cylinder, in a hands-on open lab and lecture format. Learn trouble-shooting, diagnosis and repair of malfunction on lawn mowers, garden tillers, chain saws and other gas engines. Emphasis will be placed on the proper use of special tools and equipment. The class will work mainly on two-cycle engines such as chainsaws and leaf blowers. Accident insurance is required.

TIG Welding

This course teaches the beginning welder or the welder who wants to improve his or her skills to become certified as a TIG welder. Group and one-on-one instruction will be given as needed. Welding hood, gloves and safety clothing are required. Instructor is a certified welder. Class space is limited. Early registration is strongly recommended.

Stick & MIG Welding

This course teaches the beginning welder or the welder who wants to improve his or her skills to become certified as a stick or MIG welder. Group and one-on-one instruction will be given as needed. Autobody Surface Preparation

This class is a hands-on class that will cover what most refinishers believe to be the most important part of the whole refinishing process: Preparing the surface for refinishing. This involves examining the repaired surface or the surface that is to be refinished and preparing it to accept topcoats. Students will learn how to correctly prepare the vehicle’s surface to provide proper adhesion of topcoats. Students will learn how to do a preliminary inspection of the vehicle to determine what needs to be done. Upon completion of this course students will have a good understanding on proper surface preparation. The instructor is bilingual; thus, the class is open to both English and Spanish speaking students.

Autobody Masking Materials and Procedures

This class is a hands-on class that will introduce students to the various masking materials and procedures used in autobody repair. Upon completion students will be able to inspect a vehicle and determine how it should be masked for its specific repair, decide what parts should be removed, which parts should be masked and which method should be used to mask them, how to clean vehicle for masking, identify the different techniques used for masking choose the correct materials for the technique being used. The instructor is bilingual; thus, the class is open to both English and Spanish speaking students.

Effective Teacher Training Using Current Technology in the Classroom

This class will cover effective teaching with current technology in the classroom. Teachers or future teachers will learn how to make their classroom more "tech-savvy" to interest their students with the latest available to stimulate young minds.

This course is designed for any person who has little or no experience using a personal computer. Exploring the Internet and E-mail (SS)

Learn how to search the Internet for merchandise, news and information. Learn how to send and reply to e-mail, attach files and open attachments. Learn about how to detect common e-mail scams and how to avoid uploading viruses to your computer.

Digital Photography and Imaging Software

Hone your photographic skills by learning the proper way to set up, light, and compose the perfect shot. In addition to taking and printing photos, learn how to use PhotoShop Elements 2.0 to enhance a new photo or restore an old photo.

Administrative Professional Assistant Series

This series of courses provides entry-level training for persons wanting to begin work in an office setting.  Modules include Keyboarding/Typing, Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel. Students may register for each module individually, or register for the complete series. A single textbook and disk are required for all three classes.

This course is designed for students with little or no typing skills. Learn your way around the computer keyboard.

Module 2 Microsoft Word
Learn to create professional business letters, memoranda, flyers, and other word processing documents. Learn to create tables, columns and outlines. Learn to place headers, footers, tabs and indents. Create envelopes, mailing labels and more.
Individual cost: $120, plus $5 lab fee
Dates: September 30 – November 2

Module 3 Microsoft Excel
Learn the basics of spreadsheet creation. Learn to work with columns, rows and cells. Learn types of data, labels, constants and formulas. Learn to format spreadsheets to display all types of figures and data in an easy-to-read customized design.
Individual cost: $120, plus $5 lab fee
