Activity Director – Basic

This course is designed to provide basic training to individuals desiring to become an activity director in a healthcare-related setting. Activity directors for adult care homes are required by the NC Division of Facilities Services to complete a minimum of 50 hours in an approved Activity Director Course. Activity directors for nursing facilities are required to complete the 50-hour basic course with an additional minimum of 10 hours in documentation, including the assessment and care process.

Adult, Infant and Child CPR / AED & First Aid Certification & Recertification (SS)

The CPR / AED & First Aid Certification course includes recognizing and caring for breathing and cardiac emergencies in adults, infants, and children. It also includes information on injury prevention for people of all ages and how to lead a healthy lifestyle. The Recertification Course is intended for individuals renewing their expiring CPR & First Aid Certification. Participants must present their current CPR certification. Nursing Assistant I

This program introduces students to the skills and competencies needed for basic patient care in a health care related setting. After successful completion of the course, the student can provide safe, effective, basic nursing care in a variety of health care facilities under the supervision of licensed nurses and/or other approved personnel. Nursing Assistant II

Students must have completed the Nursing Assistant I program before entering the Nursing Assistant II class. Students are taught new skills in oxygen therapy, suctioning, tracheotomy care, IV fluid monitoring and discontinuation, nasogastric and gastrostomy feeding procedures, enterostomy care, urinary diversion and urinary catheterization. This course equips the students with advanced skills in providing care for the elderly and older adults. Students must complete clinical as part of the program. Patient Navigator

This program prepares a student to work with individuals and families in the community to provide support in acquiring public assistance. You will acquire skill in medical terminology, keyboarding, medical transcription, communication and customer service skills. Phlebotomy

This course consists of theory and clinical experiences in performing blood collections. Successful completion of the course prepares students to sit for the American Society of Phlebotomy Technicians (A.S.P.T.) National Certification Examination. A textbook and pre-test are required.
