Associate in Arts Elementary Education Pre-Major

The Associate in Arts: Elementary Education Pre-Major degree shall be granted for a planned program of study

consisting of a minimum of 64 and a maximum of 65 semester hours of college transfer courses. (Ref. 23 NCAC 2E.0204) Within the degree program, the institution shall include opportunities for the achievement of competence in reading, writing, oral communication, fundamental mathematical skills, and the basic use of computers.

Courses are approved for transfer through the Comprehensive Articulation Agreement. Community college graduates who have earned 64 semester hours of academic credit in approved transfer courses with a grade of “C” or better in each course and an overall GPA of at least 2.0 on a 4.0 scale will receive at least 64 semester hours of academic credit upon admission to a university. Courses may also transfer through bilateral agreements between institutions. Courses offered through bilateral agreements may not transfer to all receiving institutions.

Extracurricular Activities

The Phi Theta Kappa honor society is a voluntary campus student organization open to all curriculum students. Membership is based on academic achievement. The society provides opportunities for the development of leadership and service, for an intellectual climate for exchange of ideas and for stimulation of interest in continuing academic excellence.

Montgomery Community College has an agreement with the college in the University of North Carolina System as well as a number of private colleges and universities that will allow your College Transfer courses to be accepted at these institutions. They include:
